September Reflections: What Change Taught Me About Marketing

September has been a month of big shifts, both in business and in life.
At Groove Socials, I’ve welcomed brilliant new clients, waved goodbye to others, and started researching new opportunities. Some departures were bittersweet, others were a relief (sometimes letting go is the biggest win of all). Through it all, one thing has stood out: change is constant, and learning to adapt is everything.
And isn’t that true in marketing, too?
Just like life, marketing is about knowing when to pivot, when to invest your energy, and when to let go of strategies or platforms that no longer serve your business. It’s about experimenting, evolving, and making peace with the fact that not every campaign or client will be forever.
On a personal note, I’ve been navigating my own goodbyes - to my last living grandparent, to friends moving across the world, and to a chapter of single life as I celebrated a friend’s wedding. These moments have reminded me that while endings can be emotional, they also make space for new beginnings.
The marketing lesson in all of this?
Know when to let go - not every strategy, channel, or client is the right fit forever.
Celebrate the wins - big or small, they keep you motivated through the harder moments.
Keep moving forward - momentum matters more than perfection.
September was full of sewing projects, exploring the Lakes, Shakespearean readings for celebrations - forever etched into my brain, and many moments of laughter (and a few tears). It left me exhausted but grateful for a very full life.
And as I move into October, I’m taking this mindset into my work with clients: embracing change, staying resilient, and making space for growth.
Because in marketing, just like in life, the only way is forward.
